No.  At Hisia Psychology Consultants, we work with normal people who face challenges as they maneuver through life.  If an individual is diagnosed with a mental disorder that requires medical intervention, our team is equipped with the necessary contacts for referral for psychiatric intervention.

Psychologists are mental health professionals who utilise several skills and techniques to analyse your thinking process and emotional process.  They also analyse how these processes impact your behaviour.  Psychotherapists are any mental health professionals who utilise therapy sessions as a tool for treatment.  Some psychologists are involved solely in research and do not provide therapy hence the use of the term ‘psychotherapist’.  Psychiatrists are mental health professionals who mainly work with individuals diagnosed with mental illnesses.  Psychiatrists are permitted to prescribe medication while psychologists are not.

At Hisia, your therapeutic needs will be assessed and the charges will depend on the level of the expertise of the psychologist and the nature of the therapeutic service required.
The pricing also varies on whether the sessions are geared towards group therapy, individual therapy, child therapy, family therapy, couples’ therapy or occupational therapy.

Yes, all our therapists undergo a rigorous interview and background check before joining the team.  All our therapists are registered with the psychological governing association in Kenya; KCPA (Kenya Counselling and Psychological Association)

Hisia Psychology Consultants is made up of a dynamic team of psychologists.  We will match your schedule with the current schedule of our therapists to ensure that your therapeutic needs are met at your convenience.  Our therapists select different hours of providing therapy and can therefore cater to clients between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. from Monday through to Friday and 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Sundays.

Your selection of a therapist based on gender is entirely up to you.  The gender of a therapist does not dictate how effective the therapist is.  However, your comfort during therapy is paramount and your selection of a therapist you are comfortable with is advised.

The Hisia team is richly diverse.  As such, spiritual and religious affiliations vary.  However, psychologists are ethically bound not to impart their religious values during the therapy session.

The Hisia team is highly qualified to address any issues you may bring to the therapy room regardless of whether he/she has experienced the same challenges you have.  A key skill in therapy is empathy which means that the therapist is trained to view the challenges you are facing through your perception and appreciate your emotional response to these challenges.

Memory lapses can have several causes.  We encourage you to visit of Therapy Centre for assessment to ensure the root cause of the memory loss is addressed.

Yes, you do.  We tend to share our relationship problems with our friends.  However, a psychologist will offer you better relationship support through:

  • Assessment and analysis of your relationship are unbiased.
  • Identifying the cause(s) of relationship friction without attached emotional components.
  • You will receive psychoeducation regarding effective communication within a relationship
  • You will receive psychoeducation on conflict resolution skills and techniques.
  • The therapy sessions can shift from individual to couple’s therapy should you and your intimate partner be willing.
